ProLogis Leases 723,000 Square Feet in Europe
-- Company Signs Two New Agreements in the UK and Czech Republic --
AMSTERDAM, July 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ProLogis (NYSE: PLD), a leading global provider of distribution facilities, announced today it has signed second-quarter development portfolio lease agreements totaling approximately 723,000 square feet (67,000 square meters) with two customers in Europe.
"We are pleased to announce additional leasing activity in the European continent," said Philip Dunne, ProLogis president in Europe. "We continue to see stabilization in the local markets, especially in the UK, where we have just signed our sixth new lease this year. This brings us to a total of approximately 1.7 million square feet (157,900 square meters) of leasing in newly developed facilities in the UK year to date."
Recent activity included leases with:
-- ASOS, UK's largest online fashion and beauty retailer. In order to expand and improve delivery options for its customers, the retailer will occupy 530,000 square feet (49,200 square meters) of previously unleased space at ProLogis Barnsley, located in South Yorkshire, UK. With this transaction, the building is now fully leased. -- Sony, a leading global manufacturer of audio, video, game, communications, key device and information technology products for the consumer and professional markets. The company will occupy 193,000 square feet (18,000 square meters) of previously unleased space at ProLogis Park Pilsen-Stenovice Building One, located near Pilsen, Czech Republic. The park faces the D5 motorway, the only highway connection between Prague and western Germany. As a result of this transaction, ProLogis Park Pilsen-Stenovice is now fully leased.
