Prologis Signs 440,000 Square Foot Build-to-Suit Agreement in Japan
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Prologis, Inc. (NYSE: PLD), the leading global owner, operator and developer of industrial real estate, today announced it has signed a build-to-suit agreement with Tohoku CO-OP, a leading national retailer, for an approximately 440,000 square foot (40,800 square meter) distribution center in Japan.
The new facility will be located at Prologis Park Tomiya 3, adjacent to the Tohoku expressway with direct access to Sendai's central business district. The three-story building will be equipped with vertical conveyance machines and rooftop solar panels.
"The lack of available supply in the region will lead to continued, strong demand for Class-A logistics developments," said Mike Yamada, president, Prologis Japan. "This project fills an important need for our customer and enables them to build a more efficient supply chain."
Prologis is one of the leading providers of industrial real estate in Asia, with approximately 23 million square feet (2.14 million square meters) of logistics and distribution space in Japan as of September 30, 2013.
